Maserati – The coolest company car on the planet
My boss is a top bloke this week! Normally I will call him every name under the sun on a daily basis because he can be an OCD control freak. Then again if he didn’t nag me more than my misses, then I probably would not be doing as well as I am in my job. Then again, I will never give him credit for that, in the same way that teenagers will never give their parents credit for nagging them to do their homework properly, which enables them to go to Uni… Thanks Mum by the way, just in case you are reading this – All my own work and effort mind, you just reminded me!
So why do I think the OCD, nagging boss is a top bloke this week? Well, for one simple reason. For his company car, he chose a Maserati Granturismo Sport. Now anyone who decides that this stunning £95k lux wagon wants this as their corporate wheels will get a nod of admiration from me. I mean, it not only looks cooler than a polar bear in winter, it goes like a rocket reaching 0-62 in 4.8 seconds. It’s got a top speed of a 185mph so nearly in the 200 club and man does it purr when you start it up. Vroom.
Back to the point. Every time he goes on holiday he puts everyone’s name into a hat, from the cleaners upwards and pulls out a name. Wait for it … that person will get to drive his company car for the whole of the time he is away. And guess who won – Me! How cool is that? So now you know why he is suddenly a “Top Bloke??? in my books. For the next 2 weeks I will be cocooned in a world of jet propelled luxury that you would only really expect from the big luxury sedans like a Bentley Continental or a Rolls-Royce. Just take a look at this interior…
I have to say that my Sainsburys’ own brand travel coffee mug looks a bit shabby in this baby!
Maserati have been aiming for the company car market for a couple of years now, highlighting the sleek designs of their Maserati Ghibli and Quatroporte ranges, which knock spots of the rather dull German and premium Japanese offerings, but this car is in a league of its own.
Behind the pretty paintwork and sumptuous hand stitched interior, stitching does this beauty on wheels really live up to its good looks – Oh yes and some! The powerful 4.7 litre V8 really delivers. With max power of 460hp and peak torque of 520Nm I would gladly put her grill to grill with a Porsche any day. No idea why I am referring to this stunning beast as a “she???, maybe because she is so beautiful and I am more than a little bit in love!
Added to the power and looks, Maserati have got the Granturismo 100% right. From behind the wheel I feel like a movie star, I get looks from strangers of pure envy and they are so right to be jealous. She drives like a dream, for all the electronic wizardry that goes into cars these days, you can feel her chomping at the bit to show you what she’s made of and when you let her loose, she will give you the ride of your life. I will be sick as a pig when I have to hand the keys back next week.
